Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I am unable to locate my separated spouse of twenty years and would like to file for divorce. How do I go about doing this on a very limited budget in New York state? Thank you in advance, Robert.

You need to exhaust all reasonable available means of locating your spouse so that you can serve her with your petition for divorce. If you are still unable to locate your spouse, you can file notice by publication. It would be best for you to employ and attorney for this endeavor or go to the pro se (self help) office of your local Supreme Court or Family Court.
