car accident

i have to serve defendant with papers who lives on the other side of town.upto what time can i serve these papers,and to any family member or directly to the defendant?

Proper service of process is necessary to obtain jurisdiction in the court.

I suggest you hire a professional for around $75-100. They will complete the affidavit of service and file it with the court (required).

If you are a party to the law suit, you may NOT serve the papers yourself.

In most instances, you should not be trying to serve the other party yourself. You should either rely on your ins. co. to handle the litigation or get an attorney.
