Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

My deceased husbands sister and her daughter are using my name, phone number and address as their own. I have received numerous phone calls from bill collectors, detectives and city clerk offices looking for either my sister in law or her daughter. When I inform the callers that no one by their names lives at my address, they inform me that my number is the one listed for them and that my address is on file for them. I was informed by a detective in Florida that I was listed as my nieces mother. So far they have not used my social security number for anything, however I am terrified they may. Is this legal and what recourse do I have?

IMMEDIATYELY contact all three credit bureaus, and file a letter with them. Also ask for your free copy of your credit report from each one. Also, go to your local precinct and notify them, so they have something on the record. If you have more questions, see Carolryderlaw.com and/or e-mail me at [email protected]
