Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

I have been named in a civil suit for disclosure of nonpublic information to a broker. The CFTC is the entity bringing the suit. If I cannot afford to pay the monetary fine what would happen to it? Would it be levied against my earnings for the rest of my life or would it be held by an entity that I would need to register with to be able to resume doing business in the commodity field?

You had better look for a new job. You may be forever barred from the industry if convicted. The civil penalties are the least of your worries now. They may use you as bait to get to the big guys.
