Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

I have a small claims judgement against my previous landlord, but he threatened to sue for slander when I made potentially misguided comments about my experience there on a public web site. The comment was removed from the site later that day and I have waited to further pursue collection of my judgement.

The statue of limitations in NY for slander is 1 year, but I've read that exceptions can be made, so am I still at risk? Should I have even been worried in the first place?

While I cannot tell you "whether you should be worried" you should know that defamation litigation can be costly and it could cost your landlord well over $50-$75k to litigate his claim. On the other hand, it could cost you a lot to defend it. However, at the end of the day if you are poor, have no assets and have bad credit the LL may realize that you can't get "blood from a stone".
