Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

I was staying in a motel. No hallways - doors opened to parking lot. Ice machine in corner of parking lot. Not adequate lighting. Went for ice at 8:30 PM (dark) and twisted ankle on uneven surface of parking lot. Sprained ankle (which I had originally done 1 month earlier). Did not seek medical care. However, this did impact my sales job due to not being mobile as I needed to be. Do I have any recourse for my pain and suffering? Please advise. Thank you
