Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

Change of status from H1B to F1

I have applied for a Change of status from H1B to F1. I have received the receipt for the same but am told that the actual approval of the visa will take between 1 to 3 months.

Can I quit my company which has sponsored my H1 and remain in the country based on the Receipt from USCIS.

Also can i begin school even though I do not get the actual approval on the change fo status

The simple answer is "no" to both questions. Now, if you remain on H-1 and decide to take classes at the same time that may be feasible but I would need to discuss that with you in detail.
