Legal Question in Immigration Law in New York

green card

I went to a lawyer who said that my husband and I can get our green cards because we are here 11 yrs now and we have 2 kids who were born here.Is this true?

Not necessarily. There needs to be some basis for your green card. Green cards are issued through either (1) employment or (2) a family relationship. Being here for 11 years means nothing on its own.

There is a relief based on your presence in the U.S. and having US or LPR immediate relatives. However, you need to show extreme hardship on your relatives in case you are removed. That is a huge burden and I cannot tell you if you meet that burden. But you need to be sure before you move ahead.
