Legal Question in Intellectual Property in New York

Can I use the cardboard insert of a DVD (for example, the DreamWorks Shrek 2 cover) to cover a blank paper notebook and then sell the notebooks as a "recycled product" without breaking any copyright laws?

Thank you,

Ann

As a Franchise Attorney I can say this. Anytime you infringe on someone's copyright, you can be sued for copyright infringement. Everything on DVD's, including inserts, are usually copyrighted. The penalties for copyright infringement can be substantial. Consult with a good intellectual property or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
