Legal Question in Intellectual Property in New York

i am writing a book about porn stars, can i publish the book which contain the names and photos of 100 best porn stars without getting their written premission??

i tried, but some attorney told me that names are no problem, and that i need to check regarding the use of a photo...

if i cannot use a photo, may i use a drawing of such celebrity? (oil painting prehaps?)

People have rights of privacy and publicity. These people are public figures and as such they protect their rights of publicity. You need their permission to publish their image whether it be photo or otherwise. If they can be recognized by your image, you need their permission to publish.

The other attorney is right on point. If the people can be recognized from another image, like a drawing or painting, the same privacy issues arise. Consult with a good business attorney in your area for specific advice.
