Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

Property Law

I have my belongings in NY at a ''friends'' house. I lived there for a couple of months (not charged rent) and had to move to Florida quickly to care for a sick relative. Since I moved down here- she refuses to speak to me and my stuff is still in her posession at her home (unless she sold it or threw it out). I need to get my stuff- does she have any legal ground to refuse me my belongings. I was never a tenant

Re: Property Law

No. She cannot refuse to give you your property; but, she has no obligation to pack it up and ship it to you. You will need to make arrangements to get your property.
