Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

I was at a charity event in an NYC park,for which I was an unpaid volunteer fundraiser.

I had an accident there, was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

I had xrays and a cat scan besides being seen by a couple of doctors. I was h urt but nothing is broken. I will also be stuck with the ambulance and hospital bills as I am currently unemployed and have no health insurance.

No one from this event has contacted me or left me a message or an email.I had proforma post event surveys I was requested to do;ha! Did not,needless to say. Also had a proforma financial accountof the end of the event but no one has said a word to me either vocally or in any format.

I do not propose to have to pay about $4-5000 .

What do you think I can do to get these bills paid and posssible further medical treatment which was advised by the doctor ,which I cannto afford to pay outright?
