Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

I was named in a lawsuit that is very slowly chugging along. I was not involved in the issue related to the suit and have documented that, but the plaintiff's firm is looking under every rock (for money) to cash in. This is the second attempt by this firm to pursue this matter. They didn't find insurance money last time, and now a decade later are attempting to find money again. I learned that the statue of limitations has expired, but there seem to be nuances regarding that. My question: I am looking to go back to school in Europe, but I don't want to continue to be harassed about this suit. If I move, would the suit follow me across the Atlantic?
