Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Finance company may have failed to pay my taxes on home

I applied for a loan, and the company was supposed to pay my taxes, and they may not have. I have a statement of how the money was distributed, and it says they paid the taxes. My home was recently auctioned off for failure to pay back taxes. The city has no record of the money being sent to them. What kind of recourse can I take against the company if in fact they did not pay them.

Re: Finance company may have failed to pay my taxes on home

I would need to review your entire closing folder from the date you purchased the property to determine who is in error. If it is the lending company we may be able to recover all of your expenses, including attorneys fees to fix this problem under the NJ Consumer fraud statute. If you make the determination as to who is in error, you can pursue legal action to protect your interests if the party is unwilling to correct the situation voluntarily. My phone number is 973-643-0040 x-104 if I can assist you.

You need an attorney to process a claim against both the City and the finance company to determine who is in error. Good luck.
