Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Inheriting an estate with 2 others

My Mother in law died in Oct and just yesterday we found out that she left her house to her 3 grandchildren. The one granddaughter kept the will a secret and has lived in the house, never notifying the others. She also burned part of the house down and is now moving out taking appliances etc...what legal recourse do the other two grandchildren have? The atty. and executor did not notify the other two benefactors either, is he liable?

Wow, that is surprising. Have you seen the will? I don't know the procedure in New York, but it sounds like the executor breached his duty. If the grandmother lived in New York, then likely New York law will apply. This is more a probate law issue - so look for a lawyer that does that type of work.
