Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

lien release

found out i was not releaased from loan which was 13 years ago that was paid up. early december asked for release. I cant seem to be freed from this lien.cant get equity loan or even sell this land. is their anything that can be done.

Do you mean a satisfaction of mortgage? If so, it was probably mailed to you and you never recorded it at the conclusion of the loan. It mustbe recorded with the County Clerk. If you asked for another one, you have not waited too long. It normally, without going back into the archives, at least 2-3 months. You certainly should be able to sell the land...and do not let this hold you up.
