Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

I'm named as a defendant in a foreclosure but I do not own the property. My relationship to the main defendant is that I sued him in small claims court and hold a judgment against him that he has not paid. Why am I listed as a defendant and will this affect my reputation?

Your judgement is a lien against the defendant's real property in the county where it was filed. If the foreclosure proceeds it will likely extinguish your lien. You are required to be made a party. This should not affect your credit rating or your reputation.
