Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York
Hit and Run
My former friend is being charged with hit and run. I stuck up for him and gave a testimony defending him. We are not friends anymore, and he DID do the crime, but I do not want to appear in court for him. Can I get out of it? I have only talked to his lawyer, no court room setting yet.

Re: Hit and Run
Do you mean a statement, or swworn testimony? Ther eis a differnece.
In any event, your best bet is always the truth. My first suggestion is, if you have already given a statement to the authorities, to contact them again and copme clean. Better now than later. Then speak with his attorney ... his attorney is out to protect his client ...not you.
Good Luck
