Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

biological child entitled to more of father's estate than two others who were ad

To what am I entitled as the son of a man who: legally acknowledges me as his son, but who completely rejects me as such otherwise; remarried after he and my mother divorced; has assets in excess of $1.5M; had two other children who were adopted early in their lives by their biological mother's new husband (40 years ago); and has no other family? Also, will I be located/contacted by the state/court automatcaly when he passes; and if not, what must I do to find out when it happens? Is there a time limit on a claim I may make against his estate? Are there things I can do ahead of time to ensure a more favorable outcome?

Re: biological child entitled to more of father's estate than two others who wer

You are entitled to whatever your father leaves for you in his will.

If there is no will, your stepmother would receive $50,000 plus 1/3 of the estate and you and your step-siblings would share the remaining 2/3 (after the $50,000 comes off the top.)
