Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Common Law relationship

I was involved with a man for 17 years,in a commonlaw relationship. he and his children lived with me and i had one child for him. we lived togather till his death in 2003, and i cared for him to the end. he owned a house but at the time of death did not leave a will and and did not have a wife. he had 6 children. his mother filed legal papers to become executor of the estate and has since then sold the house. I never took part in any proceedings because i was not married to him. she i going thru the courts to get settlemts to all the kids, but i think she is being ripped off by the attorney who filed the case. the house was sold 7 months ago, and at this time it is in the hands of the third attorney from the company. and each one is charging her for services. they told her that the case would be held for 4 months to see if anyone came forward claiming he owed them money. its been 7 months and now they have asked her to pay guardian ad litem fees again thru to next march claiming that it will not be settled till then. each time they give her a date it gets extended. the house was brought by someone in the realestate firm that the realtor came from. they have got paid but the motherthe kids got no money. can i claim for my relation

Re: Common Law relationship

If you lived with this man in FL and held yourself out as husband and wife, you may be legally married.

There are time limits involved. See an attorney without delay.
