Re: My dad passed away

Sorry on your loss. Did your father have a Will and, if so, was it probated and who was appointed his Executor? If there was no Will, has anyone applied for Administration of his estate? If nothing was done, you can apply to be Administrator of his estate in Florida. Either way, the estate representative takes charge of his belongings and has the right to see them, take charge of them and distribute them to his heirs. You do not say what the "belongings" are? Anticipate that if they are furniture, TV sets, artwork and anything other than personal jewelry and the like, the girlfriend will probably claim they are hers, either purchased by her or received as "gifts" from your father.
