Deferred Comp & 401-k, Can I get it?

My exhusband passed away recently, living in NY. i have been contacted about monies in 401k & deferred comp that he did not change beneficiary., however he did change life insurance policy. The estate wants the money, but if he didn't change, am i entitled to it? do I need a NY lawyer?

Only if the estate fights you in Surrogate's Court. The money should go directly to you if you are the named beneficiary.
