Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

What's the best way for a family of 6 siblings to locate an attorney to settle an estate when both parents are deceased and there is no will? Do all 6 of us have to agree on the attorney that will represent us?

Also, what is the best way to take a sizeable dispensation to avoid tax problems?

You can contact your local bar association for an attorney referral. No, all 6 of you don't necessarily have to agree on the attorney, but it's generally better for all of you to to act in harmony with one another, if possible. Feel free to contact my office for a brief complimentary consultation.

One of you will have to apply to be the administrator of the estate. If more than one applies, it could become difficult. A bond is typically required by the Surrogate.
