Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

my father passed away 2 months ago, in his will he names me his executor and principal heir to his home. Am I suppose to file his will in court so the deed on the house is in my name?

Yes, you should begin the Court probate process to receive Letters Testamentary (a document issued by the Court as evidence that you are the legally authorized Executor). Then you will be able to change the deed to your name.
