Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Inheritance

My father divorced my mother and remarried and had another daughter. When he passes away do I have any right to ask for anything from his estate. He did nothing for us after he left. I live in NY if that makes a difference

Re: Inheritance

If he left a will and left you out specifically then you have no claim to the estate identified in the will. But if he left it as a class gift you will take as a member of the class.

If he dies without a will you will take under the laws of intestacy, which will be governed by where he dies and where the property is located.
