Presuming ownership is joint tenants with right of survivorship (JTWROS), and not tenants in common, Wife inherits the bond and becomes the sole owner. She can then do as she pleases. If they are merely tenants in common, husband's half becomes part of his estate and wife may have to share with others. I have not seen the bond or its ownership designation, nor do I have any details of husband's estate, if he has a Will or not, what the Will says, if there are children, etc. Depending upon all of the facts, this questions could have different answers
