Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Zealand (Aotearoa)

hello my name is anne maafu. my dad john tuhimatarenga is due to go to court on june 23 because a car accident has occurred. my dad was idling in neutral at the maketu turnoff waiting to turn onto state highway 2. As dad turned onto sh2 there was no car coming from the left and one car approaching from the right but was still a while away so plenty of room to turn right. dad turned on to the sh2 and prepared to carry on when a car came up behind him and must have been travelling fast as this car did not slow down for dad so the car tried to overtake dad on his left in which dad accidently hit the car's back end, also in turn the other car hit another car which was travelling towards rotorua.

Alcohol was not a factor as my dad has given up drinking for 3 years now and his car was also up to date warranted and registered and the accident occurred before 12 noon and it was a nice day so the environment was good.

I would like to know if from these details do you think my dad is in the wrong and caused the accident and should he plead guilty or do you think he didnt cause the accident and plead not guilty.

thankyou please reply

This is not a question which should be answered online. Your father needs to instruct a lawyer who deals with traffic offences as a specialty, so that the lawyer can look at what the police have charged him with.
