Legal Question in Product Liability in New Zealand (Aotearoa)

Hi there, my names Leeanne and im from New Zealand. I recently sold a dirt bike on a buy sell website. the new owner has had it for atleast a month and has just contacted me saying it has blown up and wants me to pay $500 towards a new rebuild. upon sale he came and viewed and test rode the dirt bike and all was fine. because i dont no how he has treated the bike - if he was topping oil up, or if he was riding it to hard for its small engine I dont really want to pay unless i have to. Im also wanting to go to america in september could a court case affect this? any info would be appreciated. kind regards, Leeanne.

Unless you have warranted for anything, you r not liable. but yes, a case against you may have wrong effect on you while landing on/staying there in America
