Legal Question in Business Law in North Carolina

Tuition Reimbursement

I signed an agreement with GE Plastics that I would remain with them for 4 years after they assisted paying for me to get my MBA. Now, right at my finish, GE is selling Plastics to SABIC. I did not sign an agreement with Sabic, nor would I have signed it if it had been Sabic. I am not allowed to remain with GE as part of the sale either. They are telling me that all contracts are rolled to Sabic as part of the sale so it is still in effect. Am I still on the hook? Even though I did not sign anything saying I would remain with Sabic?

Thanks

Re: Tuition Reimbursement

You may want to consult with an attorney to provide her with more details. It would seem that if there are any significant differences with Sabic, such as location, hours, job duties, job security, then your "agreement" would not be assignable (basically) to Sabic (unless the agreement specifically stated that it were transferrable).
