Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in North Carolina

How long do i have to file a lawsuit?
I was renting from this guy who refused to do his job as a landlord, I lived there from may 05, to august of 07. I've paid thousands monthly on lightbills, because of leaks he wouldn't get fixed, he kept sending this jackleg to try to fix things, anyway, i ended with mold everywhere, had to throw away most of my belongings, and i had noodle like things growing out of the carpet..I have pictures and video of these things, and I want to sue for payback on the light bills and on all the items i had to throw away and for pain and suffering for my 4 kids and myself...

Don't wait for time. Do it now - assert your right that has been violated by filing a case aginst him.
