Legal Question in Consumer Law in North Carolina

I called an HVAC company to come look at my unit as it wasn't cooling. The technician found that the evaporator coil was leaking and when I asked he said it was under warranty. (It was $1054). He even wrote it on the company invoice that it was under warranty. After he came back and installed the part, he then asked me to pay the $1054. When I said you told me it was under warranty he replied that if we didn't pay it they would send us to collections. Because I have a security clearance (military) I didn't want to have that messed up so I paid half of this but feel like the company did a bait and switch. Had they not told me it was under warranty I would not have had them fix it. I would have gotten other bids first. They totally misrepresented to us that it was under warranty. I have called the company several times, they transfer me around to several different people, none of which state they can assist me. How can I get my money back?

Call the NC attorney general in Raleigh. They have an unfair trade practices division, and you should talk to those folks about it. They may be able to help you.
