Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina

My Mother recently passed away and we found out she had some collection notices and judgements from other creditors,she still owed $8,500 dollars to a finance company on the old home place.The house is beond repair and sits a half acre of land.If i payed of the loan and got the deed could they attach those judgements to deed and me be responsable for paying them off.

You are not personally responsible for paying her debt. The debt is owed by her estate. The administrator of her estate will not be able to get a clear title for the estate (get a deed that you could convey to someone) unless all of the debt - the $8,500.00 plus the judgments - are paid. You should consider talking to an estate attorney about how to handle this.
