Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

Good Evening,

Trying to find out if you are living in North Carolina, unmarried with a new baby, is it legal for the mother to move to another state with the child? No legal arrangments have been made between the mother and father of the child and the relationship is over, however she is being told by the father's family that it is illegal for her to move with the child. The move is in the best interest of the mother and the child.

Thank you,

Under the US Constitution you can travel or live anywhere you want in the US. Unless there is a custody and visitation court order or a written agreement between the two of you about these things, then you would be free to move with your child.

I hope you are getting child support lined up. Make him pay it!
