When am I legally separated in North Carolina?

Legal Separation

No paper writing is required (although sometimes helpful). Once you live apart from your spouse AND one of you have the intent to no longer be in the relationship of husband and wife, you are legally separated.

Isolated incidents of sex do not cause the separation to end.
