Legal Question in Civil Litigation in North Carolina

question about a legal term

A judge in a jury charge said the following. The word in asterisks is phonetic and I've not been able to figure out what he said. Can you help me?

Members of the jury, when the Court has completed its instructions and you go to the jury room, your duty will be to decide what the facts are in these cases and then apply the law to those facts as the Court is about to give it to you, as has been given to me by the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals of this state in cases that they've decided **stirchet**, as well as the law from the General Statutes as passed by your Legislature over the process of time that's not been repealed or otherwise changed.

Thanks!

Re: question about a legal term

Are you currently a juror? Please restate your question and clarify. If you are a juror, you should not seek clarification from anyone but your trial judge.

If this is based upon a fictional situation, such as television, movies, etc., please clarify.
