Legal Question in Intellectual Property in North Carolina

Original artwork or logo design
I need to know what rights I have as an individual who creates a logo for another individual who will use the original logo for her place of business (stationary, signs, etc.) I am intending to sell a logo design that I created using the paint program on my computer. If I sell this design to her will she need permission to use my original as her logo? If she is intending to use the logo I created can she do so limitlessly since she is buying it from me? What would be the best route for me to take in this situation? Thank you.

If not done already, you need to have a contract which protects your intellectual property.
