Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in North Carolina

I am a student and live in student housing off campus. I am being given 24 hours to vacate due to a background check I did not pass but was also not given initially when I arrived here 5 months ago. I've inquired about a refund of student loan money for housing that's been paid and deposit money that's also been paid but I've been told I won't receive reimbursement for neither. Is that fair and legal?

First, you cannot be evicted without the Court process. Even if they ask you to leave in 24 hours, they have to g to Court to Legally evict you.

Second, if you have a signed lease, they can only evict you in accordance with the terms of the lease. If you lied on the application and that is considered a breach of the lease, then they can evict you...but it requires explicit terms. I recommend you consult a landlord tenant attorney in your area.
