Contingency Fees
With regards to a Medical Malpractice suit that will be payable to the estate, our lawyer wants a percentage of this award as his fee. Is this ethical in the State of North Carolina?

That is the common method of compensation, so I am not sure whether there is anything else to your question. You may find a lawyer to handle it on an hourly basis - of course, someone has to pay the retainer, bills and expenses.
