Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina

My fiance's property

My fiance was killed in an auto accident in January. We lived together and his stuff is at my house. His Mom wants everything. Is his stuff considered mine or next of kin. The apartment is in my name and she doesn't have any receipts for his things. What are my rights to his things, and can I keep his stuff.

Re: My fiance's property

If it was his property (i.e. bought with his earnings or savings, and not yours), then it is technically a part of his "estate," and it would ultimately go to his kin. Until you are actually married, you do not have those rights.
