Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina

quick deed

My dad has property in north carolina, 1 acrea of land. Dad

is 90yrs old and has lost the deed to property. I got in touch with the court where they keeps a record of the deed,

they sent me a duplicate copy of the deed. Now my dad wants

to quick deed the property to his grandson.

Dad lives in brooklyn new york....property is in north

carolina,how can we quick deed the property over to his

grandson, I asked 1 lawyer in new york to help us with this

quick deed, lawyer said we have to find a lawyer in north

carolina to handle this. I know no lawyer in north carolina

and whodoI trust to quick deed this land over to my grandson. By the way, I'm dad oldest daughter, also I'm

the executrixx to my dad will, also I have durable power of

attorney on dad. I don't want to do this transaction wrong

My Mom and Dad name is on the deed, however,mom died in 1973....Can I find a lawyer to handle this for me ?

Suggest that you locate a NC State fact sheet, on the Web, for the sale and transfer of real property, for the county where the property lies. Locate the NC Judiciary Site, on the Web, for a link or info to locate a NC lawyer that can assist you and your Dad.

However, you should note, Sales and transfers of real property in states outside of NY, (especially in southern states, ie., VA, NC, etc.), are not necessarily overseen by attorneys. In those states, real estate brokers, lenders, title companies, and others, now, more often than not, tend to entirely control those types of transactions.
