Legal Question in Traffic Law in North Carolina

I ran a red light late at night in Durham County (within city limits). I'm 20 with no previous record and was considering a prayer for judgment. Having read up on it I was wondering if there'd be another way to keep my insurance from going up.

Also, I was wondering if getting an attorny would be the best idea, seeing as I'm not sure what I'm doing.

In Durham - you may want to hire an attorney. A PJC would not have insurance consequences provided it is your only pjc in a three year period. In Durham, it may be possible to get a non moving violation which would be better than the PJC.
