Claiming home of deceased relative

Is there a way to claim a home of a deceased relative who died without a will. It has been 3 years, and no one has stepped forward to claim it. It has sat abandoned for that time.

The post indicated NC law, so you'll need to check with a NC attorney, but there should be procedures for the passage of personal and real property to pass to relatives via the state's intestate (without a will) procedures. You may also wish to check with the local register of wills and/or orphan's court.
