Are electonic devices protected?

Does a patent on an electronic device protect the inventor from someone else patenting or producing an electronic device that has the same functionality but uses different circuitry?

Re: Are electonic devices protected?

The scope of protection afforded by a patent is determined by the claims of the patent (the numbered paragraphs on the last page). Therefore, there is no easy answer to this question without reviewing the patent in question.

Good luck.
