Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

Ex-spouse's debts after death

I have been divorced for over 24 years and was informed that I am the beneficiary on record for my ex's pension and life insurance. I'm also told that he has a very large outstanding debt to creditors. He has only been given a few days to live. Will I be responsible for his outstanding debt? Also, I would like to divide the life insurance (only 5k) between his 2 children, can I do that or do his creditors get to take it. He is in Ohio, I am in Florida. Also, as I am beneficiary of his pension, am I still entitled to distribution?
