Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

NextCard owes me money

Hi, NextCard was a online credit card company who closed due to insufficient funds. All accounts were closed. You were still held responsible if your account had an outstanding balance. Mine did. I overpaid my account $1,000. I even have the statement showing a credit of $1,000.74. Since they have closed, I can not seem to get ahold of them. You can still access your acct on the internet, but only to view it. The contact emails on there are no longer being used, and the number on the statement, is a recording telling you that if you have a dispute to send a letter with your dispute and contact info and someone will get a hold of you. I did this about two weeks ago and still haven't gotten a response. I don't understand why they wouldn't of just generated a check automatically. Is this something that I should get a lawyer involved with? Do you have any suggestions as to what I should do next.I just wrote another letter im going to send out tomorrow. Please advise.

Thanks

A.N

What is the address that you're sending to? They might be in bankruptcy. You might have to make a claim in bankruptcy court.
