Overdraft Protection

I was contacted by a collection agency over a checking account overdraft protection balance that was charged off in 1997. Is overdraft protection considered an open ended account, therefore beyond the 6 year SOL for Ohio, or a written contract and within the 15 year SOL for written contracts in OH? Not even sure this debt is valid, but want to know my rights

That depends entirely on the agreement that was in force between you and the bank when the account was opened. I would think the 15 year statute would apply, but the agreement in force would control.
