The State of Ohio prosecutes on behalf of the alleged victims regardless of whether or not the victim "presses charges." However, the victims willingness to participate in a trial is another issue and can help leverage a plea bargain. You should retain counsel as soon as possible and prior to the issuance of charges if at all possible.
