Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Custody Issue

I am having a baby and it will be due in march of next year my boyfriend and i are no longer together. He said he will get legal advice about the baby. How does that work when baby is newborn and with visitation? I do not want to be without my baby when it is a newborn do courts consider this? Will he have any rights until we go to court? If it takes longer to get settled will I still make the decisions about the baby until then?

Re: Custody Issue

It sounds as though you are being unnecessarily threatened. Since you are not married, he will have to prove paternity and once that is proven, he can seek visitation. He will also owe child support. If he is not trustworthy, you may have to request that he have supervised visitation.
