Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

custody out of wedlock

I have an eight month old son. His mother and I ended our relationship, and my visitation has become very limited. I see him for one to three ours a week at most. And his mother has very strict demands regarding his care. I have paid her two hundred dollars every month via check and have no access to my child without adhearing to her every demand. I am aware Ohio is a ''shared parenting state'', but I do not know what my legal rights are, or how to get them enforced.

Thank-you for any help you can be.

Re: custody out of wedlock

The simple answer is that you have no rights until (1) you establish paternity which can be done by contactinbg CSEA and then (2) petitioning the juvenile court for visitation. You can do the CSEA stuff without an attorney. But once CSEA is involved, they will calculate the proper amount of child support you should pay. Call me with any questions, 440.835.8200.
