Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Dad's girlfriend?

The kids are now 17 and 14 and 3 months ago switched residential custody to my EX. He has a live in girlfriend of one year who constantly introduces herself as the kids stepmother and sometimes Mother. She's in constant contact with the kids school obtaining information that I feel is private and confidential and should only be released to their father or myself. This past weekend the 17 year old broke his arm. The girlfriend works in the medical field so they(SHE) took him to her place of work for medical treatment instead of our regular doctor. I am currently trying to obtain the medical records, but I believe she signed the papers to approve medical care. What legal rights does the girlfriend have if ANY at all??

Re: Dad's girlfriend?

The girlfreind has no rights at all. Legally, she is a stranger to the child. However, if there is an emergency, she may take the child to the nearest hospital or doctor for treatment. A broken arm would constitute an emergency. This seems to be a topic that you should discuss with your ex before you take any further steps.

Good Luck
